Research shows weight loss linked to workload
Research undertaken down under suggests that workers who have to sit in their seats for more than 6 hours per day are more likely to become obese than those who site less. The Australian research showed that individuals who sat down more at work were 68% more likely to suffer weight problems!
Interestingly, the same research also showed that a body-mass index (BMI) of 25 was more likely in men than women who had desk jobs. The likely reason for this is that women sat for 20 minutes less per day than men. Perhaps this was because they sought to communicate face to face rather than by phone or e-mail which are the preferred communication tools for males.
